Xiaomi has launched the most expected smartphone of 2018 in its redmi note series after Redmi Note 4. But this time they came with two variant Redmi Note 5 & Redmi Note 5 Pro. Both phones have their own specs in their price tag.
Last year Xiaomi was launched Redmi Note 4 and it becomes most selling smartphone in india with almost 10 million units sold in just one year. Now, considering so many users of this phone, some of them would definitely like to upgrade it after using for one year. Considering this question in users mind we did some comparisons between Redmi Note 4 & Redmi Note 4 which will help to clear their doubts.
Almost Same Design
- Xiaomi did nothing in design of Redmi Note 5. Both phone have almost same design, though Redmi Note 5 looks much premium and weign 15 grams lighter than Redmi Note 4. The antenna line on both phones are placed at same location but it is more shiny on Redmi Note 4. Also placement volume, power button and rear camera is same on both.

New Style Display for 2018
- Redmi Note 5 looks different in terms of display. It comes with 18:9 FHD 5.99 inches screen which is new trend in smartphones and it is a first phone of redmi india series featuring somewhat bezzelless immersive display. Where Redmi Note 4 has tradition style 5.5 inches full HD display. Redmi Note 5 comes with gorilla glass 3 protection which is absent in Redmi Note 4.
Same Hardware
- Both phones packed with same snapdragon 625 2.0GHz octa-core processor with Andreno 506 GPU. Also have 3GB & 4GB RAM packed with 32GB & 64GB internal storage. You can expand memory of both device upto 128GB using micro SD card.
Sligh Improvements in Camera
- In camera there is slight improvement in Redmi Note 5 by decreasing aperture to f/2.0 with 1.25μm pixel size lens. Though Redmi Note 5 has 12MP dual tone LED PDAF rear camera & Redmi Note 4 have 13MP dual tone LED PDAF rear camera. Both phones comes with 5MP front camera but only Redmi Note 5 have flash at front.
Software, Battery & SIM
- Redmi Note 4 have MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat and now xiaomi rolled out same software update for Redmi Note 4.
- The main reason Redmi Note 4 sold in large amount is its bigger battery i.e. 4100mAh and xiaomi keeps same in Redmi Note 5 too.
- Both phones has hybrid SIM slot and here we are little disappointed with Note 5.
Verdict
3GB/32GB variant of both phones costs same Rs.9,999 where as 4GB/64GB variant of Redmi Note 5 available in Rs.13,999 and price of same variant of Redmi Note 4 is decreased to Rs.10,999 available on flipkart.No wonder, Redmi Note 5 is better than Redmi Note 3. But if you are Redmi Note 4 user and thinking about Redmi Note 4 just because of 18:9 immersive display for 2018 & better camera quality then you must go for Redmi Note 5 Pro which costs Rs.14,999 for 4GB/64GB & Rs.16,999 for 6GB/128GB which will bring a dual camera for you and snapdragon 636 processor for powerful performance.
Otherwise if you are user of other brand and thinking about phone in Rs.10,000 then you can buy Redmi Note 5.
