Xiaomi to house own Surge S2 processor in their smartphones


Last year Xiaomi introduced Mi 5C smartphone which was the first phone of the company driven by its own Surge S1 processor and was debuted at MWC 2017. After one year Surge S1 chipset's successor Surge S2 is on the way to make debut at MWC 2018.

According to sources, Surge S2 is based on TSNC's 16nm processor and it will have Octa-core CPU. Four of them CortexA73 cores running at 2.2GHz and four Cortex A53 running at 1.8 GHz GPU. The GPU will be Mali G71  MP8 and it will beat the Huawei's Kirin 960.


It is rumored that the first device of Xiaomi to come with Surge S2 chipset may be Mi 6C which is successor of Mi 5C or it may house with Mi 6X whose rear panel & soft case images were leaked recently.

Xiaomi Mi 6C was earlier spotted on benchmarking site GFXBench and it leaked specifications such as it will run on Android 7.1.1 with MIUI & 5.1" FHD screen. Also there is home button in a phone and it's 12MP camera is said to support 4K video recording. Xiaomi has decided to pack 4 GB RAM along with 64 GB internal storage but we can expect another variant with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. Come to price, when converted in INR it will costs about 18990 and Rs 23990 for higher variant.
